Engineering Design Programs and the Self–Driving Car

Top engineering design universities join Toyota for self–driving car robotics research.

The race to develop a self–driving car is one of the tightest among engineering design firms. Competition to recruit leading automation engineers is stiff, and with good reason.  Apple recently confirmed contracting a senior Tesla engineer and at least six other automation product development experts.

Engineering corporations are in the race for self–driving vehicles. Stay tuned for the latest in engineering design with IP Automation.

Toyota is thinking along the same lines as Apple– developing a self–driving car will require some of the best minds in robotics and automation engineering design. The major automotive corporation is collaborating with Stanford and MIT to push engineering development research to the max.

Spending over $50 million over the next five years, Toyota will launch joint engineering research centers at both universities. MIT and Stanford are two of the biggest names in engineering design, and large international corporations frequently recruit from both programs.

Though Toyota insists it has no intentions of building a fully automated car, its engineering design and robotics research with MIT and Stanford will certainly take steps towards the prospect. Self–driving features already exist in a number of vehicles. Lexus premiered self–parking cars in 2007 and Tesla will soon release vehicles capable of automatically changing lanes.

Self–driving features, and soon self–driving cars, are the envy and the goal of automation engineering firms throughout the globe. Keep up to date with automation and robotics product development with engineering design firm IP Automation.

Engineering Firm in Colorado Springs Business Journal

Engineering firm IP Automation contributes to Colorado manufacturing.

Ken Krassy’s article “Manufacturers take advantage of many industry opportunities” highlights manufacturing and engineering firms’ crucial role in Colorado’s economy. Director of business development with IP Automation Inc., Krassy wrote an article regarding a local manufacturing firm which appears in the Colorado Springs Business Journal’s August 25 edition.

The article relates how Colorado Springs’ manufacturers promote manufacturing capabilities and success stories to grow businesses and create jobs.

Featured in the article is Southern Colorado Manufacturing Expo. The annual event provides opportunities to promote, grow businesses and create jobs. The expo is free and open to the public. For more information please visit Pikes Peak Manufacturing’s webpage.

Engineering firm IP Automation designs and manufactures railroad maintenance equipment for much of the US rail industry. Their railroad equipment involves installation and removal of clips that attach the rails to the railroad ties much easier and more efficient.

The Colorado Springs engineering firm’s product development has created additional manufacturing jobs in the area. IP Automation is a prime example of how manufacturers and engineers boost development for their local economy.

Aerospace Engineering Explores the SpaceLiner

One–hour flights to Europe? New designs in aerospace engineering.

Are space planes the next step in aerospace engineering? TechXplore explores a group of aerospace engineers from Germany designing a product development plan that could dramatically change air travel.

aerospace engineering
With increasing technological innovation, aerospace engineers estimate passenger space travel by the 2040s.

The aeronautical engineering and research facility sees potential to dramatically reduce intercontinental travel time. Responding to the growing demand for faster air travel, The DLR Institute of Space Systems is exploring passenger space travel.

Aerospace engineers estimate a space plane rocket–powered system could reduce travel time from the US to Europe to just one hour. A Europe–Australia flight itinerary could be reduced from a typical twenty hours to ninety minutes.

Just how far away is the engineering community from accomplishing its aeronautical feat? The first phases of concept reviews are scheduled to take place between 2016 and 2020. If funding, product development and fabrication go as planned, we could be seeing space plane tickets for sale in the 2040s.

With new breakthroughs in aerospace engineering every day, IP Automation proudly participates in the engineering community’s unceasing innovation. Our engineering design and capability involves the latest technical solutions for commercial, private, and military aeronautical applications.

ReWalk Robotics’ Medical Engineering Feat

Medical engineering device allows paraplegic to walk NYC streets.

ReWalk Robotics has the medical engineering community talking about its updated version of robotic legs. The ReWalk Personal 6.0 is an exoskeleton strapped to the user’s legs, robotically allowing the user to walk.

Now approved for both clinical and personal use, the latest ReWalk is also the most user–friendly version yet. In just ten minutes users can attach the legs and be ready to walk– all without assistance.

Robert Woo, demonstrating the robotic exoskeleton in the video below, is excited to be the first to order his own ReWalk. Unable to walk since a 2007 accident, Woo has been active on the medical engineering scene.  He tests exoskeletons in their clinical trials and offers consultation to medical engineering companies.

With New York City’s constant construction and uneven sidewalks, wheelchairs are at best cumbersome in crowded urban environments. ReWalk Robotics’ exoskeleton not only heightens paraplegics’ mobility, but also offers numerous health benefits. Researchers are presently determining how walking with exoskeletons improves a paralyzed user’s muscle mass, circulation and digestion.

In the meantime, Robert Woo and his wife are completing a certification course to take home their own ReWalk Personal 6.0.

Railroad Industry Automatic Machinery

IP Automation reveals railroad tie drilling machine.

Engineering firm IP Automation proudly unveils our latest machining project for the railroad industry. Designed for one of our major railroad customers, our tie drilling and spiking station quickly and safely drills holes in railroad crossties. The automatic machinery includes a vacuum system functional with various wood tie lengths.

IP Automation designs railroad equipment to meet the high demand for efficient production. Our engineering team designed, manufactured and installed the wood tie drilling equipment within five months.

Present United States railroad industry standards average 3,249 ties per mile, or approximately 700,000,000 ties throughout the country. Regardless of developmental specifications, the IP Automation drilling and spiking system efficiently produces wood ties ready for railroad industry use.

Having supported the railroad industry with tooling and fabrication for a number of years, IP Automation’s engineering team designs innovative and reliable railroad maintenance equipment. Our clients include major railroad companies throughout the United States.
